Engagement Photographer

Some photos matter just as much before the wedding as on the day itself. This is where you two get comfortable, laughing, walking, being exactly who you are, with nothing to perform for. It's the practice run nobody tells you you'll actually enjoy.

Why an Engagement Session

Here's the thing nobody tells you: the first time most couples are really in front of a camera together is on the wedding day itself. That's a weird moment to figure out you don't know what to do with your hands. An engagement session gets that awkwardness out of the way early.

You get an hour or two, somewhere that's actually yours, just being yourselves while Mark catches it. And if it's just the two of you, a quiet elopement out at Sunset Cliffs, or somewhere else along the coast, this session might end up being the one real photo shoot you get from the whole experience. Worth doing right.

Practice Being in Love on Camera

As an experienced engagement photographer in San Diego, Mark believes the best photos happen naturally. He's not posing you like a mannequin, waiting for a fake smile to land right. He's just there, watching, waiting for the real thing to happen. The way you laugh at something stupid one of you said. The way you grab each other's hand without even thinking about it. That's the moment. Not the pose. The moment.

This is the same heart behind everything Unveiled Wedding Photography does: showing up fully, staying quiet, letting real love do what it does without getting in the way. Most couples walk away from this session surprised by how much they actually enjoyed it, not performing for a camera, just being completely, unapologetically themselves. And by the time the wedding day comes, you already know what it feels like to be looked at like that. You won't be nervous. You'll just be you, in front of everyone, the same way you were here.

How Much Does an Engagement Photographer Cost?

Before booking anything separately, check your wedding package first. Some of our wedding collections already include the option to add or substitute an engagement session, so if you're already planning your wedding with Unveiled Wedding Photography, this might be covered without any extra cost.

If you're booking a session on its own, here's what it looks like:

Standard: $550 (discounted to $500 if added to a package that doesn't already include one)

One location, about 1.5 hours, roughly 75 fully edited, high-resolution images. Simple and relaxed enough time for real photos without turning it into a whole event.

Deluxe: $995

Two locations, about 3 to 3.5 hours, roughly 125–150 fully edited, high-resolution images. More time, more variety, more of San Diego in the background.

Downtown/Gaslamp Urban Shoot: $750

About 2+ hours around downtown's streets and brick walls instead of a park or a beach, roughly 100–125 fully edited, high-resolution images, a completely different feel.

Locations outside the general San Diego area may carry a travel fee. Add-on sessions like a "Trash the Dress" shoot or a pre-wedding session in your dress add $95, since they run a bit longer. All packages are non-holiday weekday pricing (Monday–Thursday) and subject to availability; reach out for exact details on your date.

From Balboa Park to the Coast

Every location has its own personality. Balboa Park's gardens and Spanish architecture. La Jolla's cliffs and ocean light. The energy of downtown streets. The quiet, wide-open feel out at Cuyamaca Lake. Hotel Del Coronado's iconic red rooftops. The old-world charm of Old Poway Park. The hills and trails at Presidio Park.

As your engagement photographer in San Diego, Mark has shot most of these more times than he can count, which just means he already knows how each one looks at different times of day and which one actually fits the two of you. Take a look through the engagement photo gallery to see how these places come to life on camera!

Don't see your favorite spot on the list? Tell him. If it's not too far out, it can probably work.
